Interviews with Philosophers

without comments

This Page is dedicated to interviews or talks by 20th and 21st century philosophers.  Needless to say, I do not always agree with the positions that these philosophers defend.  (Rarely do philosophers entirely agree with one another.)  But given that UP@NIGHT often touches on political philosophy, I thought this would be a good addition to the site.  I will continue to update this Page with interviews and talks.  Stay tuned.

Sartre: On Himself, Contingency and Freedom

Bertrand Russell talking about exact thinking in philosophy:

Jacques Derrida:  Fear of Writing

Jürgen Habermas:  On democracy and his philosophical roots.

Noam Chomsky and Michel Foucault

Alan Watts Interviews Bertrand Russell: Trend of Philosophy (audio only)

The Putnam-Rorty Debate and the Pragmatist Revival (Several philosophers interviewed, including Putnam Rorty):

John Searle on the Philosophy of Language

Robert Brandom

In these comments on his book, Making it Explict, Brandom discusses the relationship between Hegel and Pragmatism about 8 minutes into the interview.
